KaiGo Food Rescue

In a positive development, we have taken over KaiGo, a community food rescue project previously operated by Katikati Taiao. The project aims to provide food to vulnerable communities in and around the Western Bay of Plenty by rescuing surplus or unsold food that is still safe for consumption. By doing so, we tackle food insecurity and reduce food waste while adhering to the principles of the circular economy. To date, KaiGo has successfully diverted 50 tonnes of edible food from landfill and distributed it to communities ranging from Tauranga in the Western Bay of Plenty to Waihi in the Waikato regions. The opportunities for Chrome Collective to make a positive impact on the community are endless. Our Chrome Crew team can learn new skills, meet new people, and build relationships with other community groups.
